One of the reasons I decided to retire last year was so I didn’t have to get out in really bad, cold weather any more. My old buddy, Arthur-itis, makes his presence known painfully in the cold. My Dad called his pain “Old Arthur.”
Apparently, I inherited this ailment as my Dad recalled seeing his own father sitting, rubbing his hands, almost crying from the pain.
I can’t imagine dealing with this in my grandfather’s time when there were no medications to reduce the inflammation and stiffness. Thank God for Celebrex and Naproxen. My mother also suffered from arthritic pain.
BUT THERE IS A BRIGHT SIDE: I don’t have to get up at 5:00 am anymore to get to work – AND – Spring is just around the corner!! Ready to burst into the cold and make it disappear. Talk about something to look forward to – SPRING! YEAH!
